Mountain pepper berry trees will grow to 4 - 5m and prefer a cool climate.

Two products are produced from the tree - the leaf and the berry.

The berries when eaten fresh at first seem sweet and then the hot peppery taste kicks in, be aware this is a hot taste, so be careful.

 
Pepperberries are the Australian equivalent to chillies; hot, impactful, versatile and extremely good for you, with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Add about 6 berries or a generous pinch to sauces, salads, even over fruits. Used well, there is nothing better with a good steak or jus. Try it on fish or for a great salt and pepper squid.
