The Korma is believed to have originated in the Mughal era (1526-1857) and was first prepared in the royal court of present day India. Korma is a dish consisting of meat or vegetables braised in a rich decadent spiced sauce made of yoghurt, cream and nuts. In northern India the korma is a mild yet spicy white curry. In Southern India a korma consists of a tomato based sauce which is very hot and spicy.
